Colour choice and water hardness The composition of tap water varies, with some regions containing more lime and magnesium particles than others. Higher water hardness results in more limescale deposits on taps. On smooth surfaces like chrome, removing limescale is easy, but on coloured taps and taps with a brushed finish, it can be a bit more challenging. Regular cleaning is therefore essential.
